The Magic of Shabbat: A Four-Part Jewish Psychedelic Series

$120.00

Shabbat is one of the more impactful innovations of Judaism—it introduced the cultural value of a weekly communal time for rest & celebration. Time was the first Jewish entheogen. We have continually shifted and expanded our consciousness by riding the mythical-cyclical ballasts of days, months, weeks, years, and generations. Shabbat keeps us anchored to this magical move between worlds. More than simply “the weekend,” Shabbat is a shared sacred experience built out of ritual, community, and embodied delight. This workshop will guide you through four core components of Shabbat:

(Session 1) June 3- The mythology & ethics of sacred rest

(Session 2) June 10- Practices of preparing for & welcoming in Shabbat

(Session 3) June 17- Practices of Shabbat delight

(Session 4) June 24- Practices of welcoming in the new week after Shabbat (Havdalah & Melavah Malkah).

Sessions will take place from 6:00-7:30 p.m. PT

Each meeting will offer the resources and support for contemporary spiritual seekers to design a weekly Shabbat ritual that is transportive & grounding. Whether you are new to Shabbat or a life-long vet, there will be plenty of new materials to play with and draw from. While Shabbat is not a psychedelic substance, it is a weekly invitation to alter our consciousness and enter into a wider, slower mode of perception and action.

Throughout our learning, we'll therefore work to foster a compassionate and inclusive community-space which supports individuals exploring the intersection of Jewish identity, spiritual traditions, and healing through psychedelic medicine.

Cost: $120

About Our Guide:

Yosef Rosen is an educator, ritual designer, DJ, and recipient of a doctorate in Jewish Studies (UC Berkeley). An expert in the history of Kabbalah & Jewish magic, Yosef works to translate the mysteries of the past into usable mythologies and practices. His public offerings solicit a merging of what modern society often keeps separate: the contemporary and the ancient, the academic and the experiential, the religious and the secular, the spiritual and the somatic. His classes blur the line between education and initiation, as they invite students to reclaim forgotten or censored lineages of Jewish creativity. Learn more about Yosef and his work here.
