THE FIRST OF IT’S KIND
A national survey of 1,126 Jewish Americans on their psychedelic experiences.
This unprecedented population study examined perspectives on psychedelics, and explored the attitudes, practices, and needs of the emerging Jewish psychedelic community in the United States. The research was supported by Common Era and conducted in partnership between Emory Spiritual Health and the university’s Center for Psychedelics and Spirituality.
Published in July 2026, Jewish Journeys documents with rigor what is actually happening in the Jewish community at scale in a way the field has never seen before.
Key Findings
❋ Jews overwhelmingly support expanding access to psychedelics — favorability for research, legalization, and religious use runs roughly 40 points higher among Jews than the average U.S. voter
❋ 88% of respondents have tried psychedelics, most motivated by self-insight, curiosity, and spiritual growth
❋ The greatest reported increases after psychedelic use: desire for community and connection to the Divine
❋ Mystical and spiritually meaningful experiences were strongly linked to improved wellbeing, alongside a strong openness to wisdom from outside one's own tradition
❋ Most people wouldn't feel confident guiding a friend through a difficult aftermath, pointing to a clear opportunity: build the communal infrastructure this moment calls for
