Retreats
Shefa's retreat programs are the heart of our work, and the clearest expression of what Jewish psychedelic practice looks like in community.
❋ Rooted in Jewish CareExplicitly Jewish, our retreats are held with the highest standards of care and support: professional medical screenings, generous time for preparation and integration, and an interdisciplinary team of facilitators, therapists, and spiritual care providers who are trained, licensed, and trauma-informed. We strive to meet our participants' individual and collective needs, as humans and as Jews. And we hold space for something harder to standardize: a community still learning, together, how to do this work.
❋ However You Practice, You BelongOur retreats welcome participants across the spectrum of Jewish belief, practice, and affiliation. All we ask is that you bring a sense of openness to engage with our tradition, like the medicine we are working with, as a living source of meaning-making.
❋ Rooted in Jewish WisdomPut simply, a Shefa retreat is an opportunity to experience psychedelic healing and self-discovery within a Jewish spiritual container. Our retreats are shaped by Jewish time and ritual and supported by evidence-based therapeutic care. They are held in partnership with a dedicated Indigenous facilitator at every retreat, as an act of reciprocity toward the lineages from which these medicines come.

Research
From the start, Shefa recognized the need for data-grounded research on the scale, needs, and spiritual dimensions of Jewish psychedelic experience — for communal leaders, clinicians, funders, and researchers alike.
❋ Jewish JourneysWith that goal in mind, and in partnership with Common Era and Emory University, Jewish Journeys came to life. Published in July 2026, this unprecedented population study of Jewish Americans’ perspectives on psychedelics explored the attitudes, practices, and needs of the emerging Jewish psychedelic community in the United States.
❋ Shefa’s Research GoalsRESOURCE professionals and community leaders to engage in this work with wisdom, nuance, safety and integrity.
GIVE leaders the data and insights necessary to develop appropriate strategies and offerings to serve the evolving needs of the Jewish psychedelic community.
PRODUCE the information that informs Jewish communal policy, pastoral care, and healing practice.
PIONEER research frameworks and methodologies that may serve other religious, ethnic, and other special interest communities, the outcomes of which will influence clinical care and national conversations around access and safety.
❋ What Comes NextAs we look forward, Shefa is focused on cultivating more credible, community-rooted research on the Jewish psychedelic experience. This will take the form of additional research studies, including naturalistic, real-world psychedelic experience studies, as well as public conversations to translate Shefa’s research into communal conversation.
