Retreats

Shefa offers above-ground, medically supervised, Jewishly-held psilocybin retreats that root psychedelic healing in Jewish ritual, community, and tradition.

Jews who long felt disconnected from community or spiritual life are finding belonging through Shefa’s retreats, especially our integration process and cohort-based preparation.

That relational fabric is part of what Shefa is building.

✽ The Journey Matters

Our approach is structured around a journey that includes reflection and processing before and after the retreat. While the retreat itself can feel like the “purpose” of the experience, research shows that thoughtfully structured and held preparation and integration support are what truly allow participants to achieve deep and long-lasting insights, healing and growth. We like to say that preparation and integration constitute 75% of the retreat, while the ceremony only comprises 25% of the critical work we do together.

✽ Grounded in Responsible Practice

To ensure compliance with existing state laws, Shefa only operates retreats exclusively in Oregon and Colorado. Colorado’s Natural Medicine Health Act and Oregon’s Psilocybin Services Act create state-regulated frameworks for supervised adult psilocybin services. During retreats, all psilocybin sessions take place at state-licensed healing centers and are facilitated by the mandated number of trained, state-licensed professionals.

Because Shefa is dedicated to ensuring that our offerings are data-driven, participants are always invited to complete surveys created by our scientific research advisory team before and after their experiences.

At this time, Shefa offers two unique retreat options

Idra

Psilocybin Resilience Retreats for Jews in Leadership

Idra is a five-day, Oregon-based psilocybin retreat designed for Jews in leadership roles who are experiencing burnout and low resilience. It addresses a real and urgent need: at present Jews in all types of leadership roles are shouldering an extraordinary weight. They often carry their communities' grief, moral complexity, and spiritual hunger without adequate support for their own. Idra creates the container for them to be held rather than holding others.

What Idra offers:
  • Extended depth for meaning-making, ethical discernment, and restoration

  • Re-anchoring of leadership in humility, healing, and relationship

  • Connection with peers navigating similar responsibilities and strains

  • A deeply Jewish arc: embodied practice, ancestral wisdom, and Shabbat-like restoration

Tzohar

Psilocybin Retreats for Jewish Adults

Tzohar is a three-night, Colorado-based psilocybin retreat for Jewish adults across the full spectrum of background and affiliation. It operates within Colorado's Proposition 122 with professionally licensed facilitators alongside Shefa's spiritual care staff. It is designed for people who are hungry for depth, healing, and community and are seeking a space to bring that hunger within a Jewish context.

What Tzohar offers:
  • A state-regulated psilocybin experience in a Jewishly held container

  • A deeply Jewish arc across three nights: embodied practice, delicious and kosher meals, ancestral wisdom, and Shabbat-like restoration — without requiring particular observance or prior psychedelic experience
